Do you need to upload pics/videos to iTero first before sending to the lab?

You can upload pictures/videos/x-rays to your account on http://myitero.com and add them to the patient RX, they will then be ready in non-completed orders. Once you complete the scans and hit send to lab, we’ll get your scanned impressions as well as the pre-loaded information you’ve added to the RX.

On the scanning protocols, can you do your scans the other way round, i.e. scan 1 without a denture and scan 2 with a denture? Are there notifications to tell you what to scan and when?

The exact order in which scans are taken is not important so long as all required elements are there.

What happens with patients where they have a loose set of dentures? Can you do an additional silicon bite on one?

Yes, in cases where patients have loose dentures, take a reline impression in the loose denture, tidy up any lashing and proceed with your scans.

Do you recommend heavy or light body material when taking an impression using the denture?

We recommend a 2-step impression technique, heavy body for the border and then light body for the secondary stage of that impression.

Patient comes along having lost his/her only set, where do we go from here, especially if there’s a poor lower ridge?

If the dentures were manufactured by CosTech within the last 12 months, we should still have the designs on file. If not, please proceed with Workflow 4 (edentulous dentures) from our Digi-Denture Scanning Guide.

What’s the difference between Economy, Premium & Premium+ dentures?

Economy: Dentures designed for the NHS.

Premium: Private dentures made by a dedicated team working only with premium materials.

Premium+: Private dentures handled from start to finish exclusively by a single senior technician. You can choose a technician if you have a preference or have us assign one to you.

Is there a separate protocol for cobalt chrome dentures?

No, there is no change in protocol for cobalt chrome dentures, however we suggest you check the undercuts are well scanned. If you’d like a chrome try in before going to finish, please state this on the RX, there is no additional cost for this.

What’s the feedback on not doing a try-in?

The point of a try-in is to check that the bite registration was accurate, because of the inherent accuracy in following this workflow with an intraoral scanner there is no need for this. If you require a try-in for the positioning/shape of the teeth, please state this on the RX and we can either send you a digital design file or proceed to a traditional try-in.
